on 6 December 2018

Canonical is pleased to announce commercial support for Kubernetes clusters deployed using kubeadm. Companies using kubeadm to deploy Kubernetes in production, development or multi-stage environments, can immediately benefit from enterprise support through Ubuntu Advantage for Kubernetes support on a per-node basis. Support for official Debian packages used with kubeadm is also included.

For both new and experienced users of Kubernetes, kubeadm offers the ability to get Kubernetes running in any Linux environment. Using kubeadm allows for fine-grained exploration of Kubernetes capabilities, and it allows developers and operators to have better visibility into the low-level mechanics of setting up Kubernetes. These capabilities make kubeadm a great option for those who need in-depth operational experience and offers immediate engagement with the Kubernetes operator community.

With the addition of clusters deployed with kubeadm, Canonical broadens the Kubernetes deployment options for enterprises. This comes as a complement to Canonical’s support for Charmed Kubernetes (CK) – a multi-cloud upstream Kubernetes distribution that is fully automated with advanced operational patterns built in.
